A great version of the hit stage musical that weaves a series of ABBA songs around the plot. Given that the songs were not written for the musical, the writer has managed to incorporate them seamlessly into the plot. Although the main actors are not the best of singers, their enthusiasm and acting ability carry the film. There are several good performances but Julie Walters comic ability stands out. This was rightly a hugely successful stage musical as well as a film. The plot : A young girl (Amanda Seyfried) who does not know who her father is and is about to get married finds her mothers (Meryl Streep) diary and invites three men (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard) who could be her father to the wedding on the Greek island where she lives. The story has echoes hack to the earlier film Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell. Actors
